Terms of Use
Effective date: 15 October 2026
PixelShelf™ is a game collection and library manager for Android, made by an independent developer (“we”, “us”). These terms cover using the app, buying Premium and taking part in the leaderboard. By using PixelShelf you agree to them.
How the app handles your data is explained separately in our Privacy Policy. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
1.Using PixelShelf
PixelShelf is for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may install it and use it on your own devices.
You must be 13 or older to use PixelShelf.
You must not copy, resell or redistribute the app, try to take it apart or get around its Premium checks, or use our server for anything other than the app itself (for example by scraping it or sending it automated requests).
2.Premium
PixelShelf is free to download and use, with an optional Premium upgrade. Premium is sold through Google Play as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-off Lifetime purchase. The current prices and what Premium includes are shown in the app before you buy.
- Payment: purchases are made and paid for through Google Play, under Google Play’s own terms.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them. You can cancel at any time in Google Play, and Premium stays unlocked until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Refunds are handled through Google Play under its refund policies. This doesn’t affect any right to a refund you have under consumer law.
3.Lifetime purchases
A Lifetime purchase is a one-off payment with no renewals. “Lifetime” means the lifetime of PixelShelf, not of the buyer.
Your Premium unlock is recorded by Google Play against your Google account, not on our server, so it stays unlocked on your device even if our server is unavailable or shut down. It covers the Premium features that run on your device. It doesn’t guarantee that online features (section 4) will keep running.
4.Online features
Some features rely on our server: game search, cover art and details, matching games imported from Xbox and Steam, recommendations, the leaderboard and in-app feedback. They are provided as available. They may be unavailable at times, and they may change, be limited, or stop altogether if that service ends or PixelShelf is discontinued. Where we reasonably can, we’ll give notice in the app first.
Features that run on your device, including your library, adding games by hand and the Premium features you’ve unlocked, carry on working without our server.
5.Game information
Game details and cover art come from the IGDB game database, and playtime and achievements come from Xbox and Steam. We show this information as it is supplied and can’t guarantee it is complete or correct. Playtime figures in particular are reported by each platform and may be inaccurate for some games.
6.Linked Xbox and Steam accounts
Linking an account is optional and uses API keys that you get and supply yourself, from xbl.io (OpenXBL) for Xbox and from Valve for Steam. You are responsible for those keys and for following those services’ own terms. They are run by other companies, and if they change how they work or stop, importing from them may stop working too.
7.Your library and backups
Your library is stored only on your device, and we hold no copy of it. Keeping a backup is your responsibility. We can’t restore a library that hasn’t been backed up, and we aren’t responsible for its loss if your device is lost, reset or replaced or the app is uninstalled, except where the law says otherwise.
8.Usernames and the leaderboard
Joining the leaderboard is optional. The username you choose is shown publicly to other PixelShelf users, so it must not:
- be offensive, hateful, sexual, threatening or harassing
- impersonate someone else, including us or any company
- include anyone’s personal details, such as a real full name, address or contact details
- advertise anything or include a web address
We may remove or reset a username, remove a leaderboard entry, or stop a device taking part, without notice, if we think it breaks these rules. Anyone can report a username from the leaderboard screen, and we review every report.
You can delete your leaderboard entry at any time, in the app or by emailing us, even if you no longer have the app. How to do this is explained in Deleting your data in our Privacy Policy.
9.Feedback
You must not send anything abusive or unlawful through feedback or the contact form. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them to improve PixelShelf without owing you anything for them.
10.Ownership and trade marks
The PixelShelf app, website, text, logos and artwork are our own work and belong to us. You may not copy, reproduce, modify or reuse any of them without our written permission. PixelShelf™ is our trade mark, and a UK trade mark application for it is pending.
Xbox, Steam, IGDB and all game titles, logos and cover art belong to their respective owners. PixelShelf is independent and isn’t endorsed by Microsoft, Valve or IGDB.
11.Our responsibility to you
We work hard to make PixelShelf reliable, but it is provided “as is” and we can’t promise it will always be free of faults or available without interruption.
We aren’t responsible for losses that weren’t reasonably foreseeable, or for business losses, since the app is for personal use.
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for fraud, or affects your legal rights as a consumer, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 in relation to digital content.
12.Stopping
You can stop using PixelShelf at any time by uninstalling it. To cancel a subscription, cancel it in Google Play, since uninstalling the app doesn’t cancel it.
13.Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app changes. The effective date at the top of this page shows when they were last revised. For significant changes we’ll let you know in the app where we reasonably can. If you keep using PixelShelf after a change, the updated terms apply.
14.Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your own country’s courts.
